It is a general rule that the argumentative essay topics should be of a controversial kind. It is necessary so that there are arguments for and against something. On the one hand, it seems to be right. When choosing the argumentative essay topics, you have to think of the controversy first of all.

However, I think that good argumentative essay topics can be non-controversial as well. And you do not have to be afraid that you will not find the needed arguments. Let us give you an example.

The topic of space exploration seems to be not that controversial. At least you will not hear too many debates on it. Everybody just knows that space explorations are right and for some reasons they are necessary.

Still, I would like to give some arguments on the other side of the space explorations.
• If we consider this topic from the historical point of view, we will see that the space explorations have not the advantages only. For instance, the period of the Cold War was one of the most progressive. I mean before that humankind did not have any space ships and nobody was walking on the moon. Well, some new discoveries are great. Yet, have you ever thought what has changed in the life of the ordinary people after the first flight into space? What is more, space discoveries let to develop the military progress.
• Nowadays enormous sums of money are spent on the space explorations. But what is the difference for people in the whole. Everyday we are busy with our jobs, families and actually no one cares about what is happening in space.
• As for me, it is better to think about those things that are happening here, on the ground. Millions of people are dying from starvation, wars, diseases and they cannot find assistance. And at the same time billions of dollars are spent to explore the life on Mars.

So, you can see that even non-controversial topics can be turned into the controversial ones.

I know that choosing a topic for any assignment is not easy. However, as for me, picking the argumentative essay topics is even more difficult. Of course, I will try to explain my point of view.

As you know, argumentative essay topics should be controversial ones. If you are thinking of the controversial essay topics, you have to choose from the most burning issues. You have to do it, because you have to introduce your arguments as the counterarguments to the opposite opinion.

Now, let us consider the current burning issues. These are: same sex marriage, gun control, animal rights, cloning, euthanasia, death penalty and some others. Yes, these issues are really important, but can you imagine the amount of the works devoted to these problems. These problems are discussed on all possible levels, starting from the governmental level and finishing with non-governmental local organizations.

It is really hard to imagine what new information can be introduced on these topics. You will be just interpreting already known facts and ideas. It is more likely that your opinion will not differ too much from those already introduced.

So, what can you do when choosing the argumentative essay topics?

1.Definitely, it is better to choose a completely new topic. Still, it also can be difficult, and you may lack the necessary materials for disclosing it.

2.If you choose the common controversial topic, you should try to find an undisclosed aspect, or at least the aspect, which is not usually discussed.

I hope you will find a worthy topic for your essay that will not be so widespread and boring.
